A journey from the immersive room to home
How 3walls created a panoramic surgery preparation experience and a mobile recovery guide with Schneider Children's Medical Center Urology.
At Schneider Children's Medical Center, a child's questions do not end when they leave the room. Working with the Urology team, we created two distinct interactive experiences for different moments of that journey: an immersive room experience before surgery and a mobile guide for use at home.
Before surgery: step into the story
The room experience spans a 5760 × 1080 panoramic canvas across three walls. A child follows an illustrated journey through hospital spaces and encounters moments connected to admission, surgery preparation and recovery. The wide format turns the room itself into the setting for the story.
The interactive scenes let the child explore the hospital journey at their own pace in the room. The story gives the team another way to introduce unfamiliar places and steps before the procedure.

At home: a guide they can return to
The separate mobile web app is designed for the period after the hospital visit. It organizes short illustrated sections about the urinary system, catheter use, day and night routines, cleaning and common questions, so the child and family can revisit guidance at home.
The app is a reference created with the care team. It does not replace instructions from a child's own clinicians.

One project, two settings
The two experiences share a purpose while working in different places. In the immersive room, a wide interactive story helps introduce what is coming. At home, the phone-sized guide makes the team's information easier to find again. We designed each around the moment and screen where it would be used.
